Game of bones: Couple lovingly recreate characters from HBO series with their three dogs, including Ned Bark

Image
Game of Thrones exploded in popularity when it was first brought to our screens, and now a dedicated couple of fans have created their very own homage - by dressing their dogs up as the show's main characters. 'The Pugs of Westeros' sees canine trio Roxy, Blue and Bono playing doggy versions of the show's main characters, including Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen and conniving King Joffrey. The pugs' owners, Phillip Lauer, 57, and his wife Sue, 47, from California, have been dressing their pugs up as characters from cinema and TV since they were puppies. And while the pair normally only shoot stills, they jumped at the chance of creating a mini-movie based on one of their favourite shows after being contacted by streaming service Blinkbox. Mr Lauer said: 'Sue is a professional photographer and designer and she loves to take pictures of our pugs in various scenarios. When blinkbox set us the challenge of a Game of Thrones tribute, we couldn't resis

Determined pig jumps from moving truck to escape slaughterhouse

Image
This little piggy will not be going to market after escaping from a moving truck on the way to a slaughterhouse. The sow, who has since been nicknamed Babe, after the Hollywood film, was captured jumping 16ft to freedom in south China. A witness said the pig climbed over the backs of her fellow porkers before leaping out of the slaughterhouse van.   Miraculously she escaped unhurt and has now been adopted by police who responded to the incident in the Guangxi region. ‘She was safe and sound after her leap,’ said a police spokesman, ‘but found herself lost in the big city. ‘If we hadn’t have got to her he would have undoubtedly found himself at the end of a blade wielded by a local who would have enjoyed pork for days to come.’ He added: ‘She saw one chance of freedom by clambering on the backs of the other pigs and took it. ‘She deserves her chance of life and she has got it. She will never be eaten here.’ Babe is being kept at the police station an

In a matter of a second, the encounter was over and the impala escaped.  But it wasn't until Mr Atkinson reviewed that dramatic footage that he could see how close the lion had been to success.

Worms, larvae and fish eggs: Photo magnified 25 times reveals the stomach-churning contents of a SINGLE DROP of seawater

Image
Next time you're splashing around in the sea on holiday, you might want to close your mouth. This stomach-churning photograph shows the types of microscopic creatures that are crawling around in just a drop of seawater, which has been magnified 25 times to reveal what's living in it. From bacteria and worms, to fish eggs, crab larvae and diatoms, the image shows the plankton holidaymakers could be swallowing each time a splash of water ends up on their tongue. Award-winning National Geographic photographer David Liitschwager captured the photo, revealing the less-than-obvious threats in the ocean. The photo proves the taste of seawater isn't just salt - it's the multitude of critters. On its website, National Geographic said of the photo: 'Under a magnifier, a splash of seawater teems with life. 'The planktonic soup includes bug-like copepods; long, glassy arrowworms; coiled filaments of cyanobacteria; rectangular algae called diatoms; fish eggs; and a

‘Zonkeys’ exist, and they’re amazing

A zoo in Mexico has welcomed into the world a ‘zonkey’: a rare cross between a zebra and a donkey. Named Khumba, the hybrid animal seen in the video was born on April 21 at Reynosa zoo, in the north-eastern state of Tamaulipas. Khumba’s mother is a zebra called Rayas, whilst the father is a dwarf, blue-eyed albino donkey named Ignacio that lives on a nearby farm. According to the zoo, Khumba is a rare case in the animal world because the zebra and donkey chromosomes are not compatible.

New bride ends up in hospital after ‘two hour orgasm’

This woman’s husband was pretty proud of himself after giving her a two hour orgasm – although she was slightly less impressed. A video of the new bride in hospital, in which she was seen twitching uncontrollably, was shared on YouTube. She was finding it tough to speak as each sentence was being interrupted by a climax. She had reportedly been having orgasms for more than a couple of hours after having sex with her husband, who was recording the clip. ‘For the first 10 minutes I was like, this is awesome but now it’s exhausting,’ she is heard telling the doctor. ‘This is so embarrassing. I will never forget this.’ Her husband seemed pleased with himself though and added: ‘She asked me to do this!’ Doctors gave the woman valium to ease her orgasms.

Releasing 1.5 Million Balloons Into The Air Is A Bad Idea

Image
With the best of intentions, Tom Holowach set out to create a massive spectacle. As Gizmodo reports,  Holowach was the mastermind behind Cleveland, Ohio's Balloon Fest on September 27, 1986. Holowach explained his role in a Q&A this week: I was the Project Manager for this event. I worked on it for 6 months and lived in Cleveland for a month preparing for it. We had to design a structure this filled a city square and could stand up to 90 MPH winds, which was building code. The one-piece net was fabricated by the exact company I found in So Cal who built the cargo nets for the Space Shuttle. Kids in schools "sold" balloon sponsorships at 2 for a dollar that went to United Way. The goal was 2 million but we stopped at 1.4 + million. Though the event was a spectacle, as can be seen from the photos below, Balloon Fest ended in tragedy. As Viral Forest explains,  a storm moved  in and forced all of the balloons back over the city. Incredible video of daredevil duo jumping from world’s tallest building

Image
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s just two crazy men jumping off the world’s tallest building. Armed just with parachutes, Fred Fugen and Vince Reffet are videoed breaking the world record for the highest base jump in a death-defying plunge from the 2,717-foot-high Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Others have jumped from the skyscraper, roughly twice the height of the Empire State Building, before but Fugen and Reffet got an extra 500ft by jumping off a temporary platform placed on top of the building’s pinnacle. The pair told Gulf News: ‘We feel happy for breaking the world record, but it wasn’t the main goal. ‘We’ve been dreaming about base jumping from this special place, this unique place, for three years now.’

Amazing footage of a bridge shifting up to six feet by river of ice boulders

Image
The power of nature never ceases to amaze. Next time you grumble about the drizzle in this country, spare a thought for those living in much colder climes. This fast-flowing river of ice in New Brunswick, Canada, was so powerful it moved a bridge up to six feet.   Ice boulders fill the water as is flows under a bridge. However, there is so much of it that it soon blocks all available space and forces the structure to move. The person who shot the footage and uploaded it to YouTube claims the bridge shifted between three and six feet.

Are you my daddy? Meet Ponzu and Ichimi the adorable dog and cat who behave like father and daughter

Image
When Ichimi the kitten was rejected by her mother, Ponzu the golden retriever and his owner Jessiepon took her in and have begun nursing her back to full health. Ichimi has taken very well to her guardian Ponzu – the two play together all the time, and Ponzu even cleans and sleeps together with Ichimi. Judging by the pictures on Jessiepon’s Instagram account, Ichimi is growing stronger by the day. Ichimi has provided Ponzu a much-needed respite from his heartbreak after Wasabi, a kitten that Ponzu and Jessiepon rescued from a crow attack, died in August. Now, Ponzu has a new kitten to care for. Believe it or not, but inter-species animal friendships, especially with paternal relationships like in this case, aren’t very rare at all. A post we published recently about beautiful animal friendships shows us that animals of all colors shapes and sizes can get along just fine – a lesson that we’d do well to learn also! Police officer PUNCHES woman three times in the head [caught on camera]

Deaf Toddler Hears For First Time With Device Implanted in Brainstem

Image
At a hospital in Boston, sound registered in Alex Frederick's brain for the first time. Alex, just 17 months old at the time, is deaf, but a device, not yet approved in the United States for children, is helping to change that. It was implanted directly into his brain. Alex was born two months prematurely, weighing just four pounds and four ounces at birth. He spent the first month of his life in the neonatal intensive care unit of St. John Hospital in Detroit. His early arrival brought him into the world facing a host of challenges. Scans would show that Alex had a heart condition, while his vision appeared to be compromised. And then there was the matter of his hearing. Alex failed the hearing test given to all newborns. Then he failed a second hearing test two months later. ABC Entertainment News | ABC Business News "That was a blow," said Alex's father Phil Frederick. "The most difficult part for me was that first time … he failed his first hea
