A pair of male lions seem to be roaring with laughter after sharing a joke in Kenya's Masai Mara reserve



Rose Fleming, 49, spotted the two while on safari, describing the experience as 'freakin' awesome'



Ms Fleming said: 'Their faces look as if they were sharing a private joke that made them crack up laughing'

‘Zonkeys’ exist, and they’re amazing

A zoo in Mexico has welcomed into the world a ‘zonkey’: a rare cross between a zebra and a donkey. Named Khumba, the hybrid animal seen in the video was born on April 21 at Reynosa zoo, in the north-eastern state of Tamaulipas. Khumba’s mother is a zebra called Rayas, whilst the father is a dwarf, blue-eyed albino donkey named Ignacio that lives on a nearby farm. According to the zoo, Khumba is a rare case in the animal world because the zebra and donkey chromosomes are not compatible.

Wildlife photographer Grant Atkinson spent 30 minutes trailing the lioness in the Okavango Delta in Botswana Atkinson lined up his camera as the lioness, crawling prone, approached the unsuspecting impala Suddenly, as the lioness lunges at its prey, Atkinson begins shooting the dramatic confrontation Moments later the impala escapes, but Atkinson is forced to look at his camera to see how the lioness almost won As the lioness approached the impala on the Okavango Delta in Botswana, photographer Grant Atkinson thought there was only one winner in this battle of nature.  With the predator preparing to strike, Mr Atkinson had his finger on the shutter of his camera, poised for the moment when the impala was clamped firmly between the lion's jaws.
