 Young male dolphins used two porpoises in a game of cat and mouse, inflicting horrific injuries that left the animals dead The moment two porpoises were attacked and killed by dolphins who threw the animals around ‘for fun’ has been captured on camera. The incident was seen by Caroline Weir who noticed the commotion from her bedroom window in St Cyrus in Aberdeenshire and took photographs. The pictures show the dolphins repeatedly throwing around one of the porpoises. The animals were later washed up on the shore dead, and had suffered serious injuries to their heads including deep gaping holes around their eyes.  Experts at the Scottish Marine Animal Strandings Scheme believe the pair of dolphins, thought to be young males, were probably playing a game similar to ‘cat and mouse’ when they inflicted the injuries. This is  Big Bird,  a Great White pelican who lost his flock after a storm hit Lake Tanganyika. Injured, unable to feed himself, he desperately landed at the beach of the  Greystoke Mahale Camp in Tanzania,  where he recovered and learned to fly again. Here's his story, according to camp owners. It was nearly 4 months ago now that Big Bird swam in from Lake Tanganyika and promptly waddled up our beach here to the astonishment of lunching guests. He was young but already large, maybe 3 months old then. He couldn't fish without his flock. This species doesn't dive for fish, instead they corral the fish co-operating with each other and then scoop the cornered prey into their large stretchy pouches below the bill. So we have been given permission from Tanapa, the park authority to feed him. He didn't fly for some weeks but with encouragement he got the idea. A visit by a four-metre crocodile closed Broome's Cable Beach on Saturday. The reptile was spotted around midday and stayed in the area for about seven hours. Rangers and wildlife officers closed the beach and kept a crowd of onlookers at a safe distance. The beach has now been reopened. Sharon Scoble said the crocodile seemed to surfing in the waves offshore. She said she was in awe at the sight of it. "Oh he was huge," she said. "I mean, you see them in wildlife parks and whatever but to see one just cruising around the ocean was absolutely humbling."

Panic has gripped the northern Indian town of Meerut where a leopard is on the loose, officials said. Schools and colleges are shut and a high alert has been sounded in the town, which is a two-hour drive from the capital, Delhi. The animal entered a hospital on Sunday and was locked in a room for a few hours before it escaped, reports said. Large numbers of policemen have been deployed and wildlife experts have been called in to help capture the animal. "We have closed schools and colleges in the town because we are unable to locate the leopard and do not want to take any chances. This is only a precautionary measure," district magistrate Pankaj Yadav told BBC Hindi. "We are yet to locate the leopard. We have got calls from some areas but are still unable to trace its exact location," district forest officer Sushant Kumar said. So Todd Ray, who owns the  Venice Beach Freakshow  in Los Angeles was naturally skeptical when a woman in Florida told him she had an iguana with eight tails. "I had never heard of such a thing," Ray told The Huffington Post. "There are lots of iguanas with two tails. I have one of those, but I've never see one like this." Ray saw the pictures, but nothing prepared him for the sight when the as-yet unnamed octo-iguana arrived at the steps of the Freakshow.
